The rules of the game
We are a no check, recreational, developmental league. What that means is that we're out here to have fun, play hard, and get in shape. You won't fulfill your Olympic dreams in our league...
The rules are pretty simple - you've gotta wear full gear, pay your fees, sign in at the rink when you arrive, and not be a turkey. That's it.
The objective of the game is to score as many points as possible in the opposing team's goal. Pretty simple.
We do have a hat trick rule - meaning, if you score 3 goals, any additional goals you score don't count. You can assist another player in scoring as much as you want.
And, these are the penalties you should try to avoid:
Icing: Icing is where you shoot the puck across the center red line and the opposing team's goal line without the puck being touched. In the graphic to the right - B is icing, A is not.
Off-sides: When you are moving into the offensive zone (the area between the blue line and the net you are trying to score in), you have to follow the puck. You can't cross the blue line before the puck does, and if the puck comes out of the offensive zone, you must too before your team can bring the puck back in.
Tripping: A penalty called by the ref when a player "trips" another player with their stick or skate causing them to lose balance and fall on the ice. You'll get two minutes in the penalty box for this one.
